Churchill Fire responded to a reported house on fire on Ridgewood Drive in Churchill at 0556 am, June 12, 2020. Police units confirmed smoke showing and all occupants were out of the house. 122 Engine was first on scene with smoke showing from the attic vent on delta side.
Wilkins 302 Engine arrived next and laid an 800ft 5 inch supply line from McCrady Road and Ridgewood Drive to the fire building. Crews from 122 and 302 advanced a 1-3/4 line into the kitchen and found fire behind the attic stair access panel. After knocking down the fire in the attic stair area, the interior crew began pulling ceiling in the kitchen finding heavy fire in the attic area.
Wilkins 303 Truck arrived and positioned in front of the building. Edgewood 137 Engine crew joined the interior attack with a second line and both crews continued to pull ceiling to attack the fire which had spread throughout the attic area. Additional crews from Forest Hills Engine 153, North Braddock Engine 207, Penn Hills Truck 225, Chalfant Engine 102 also responded, with RIT Provided by Monroeville 6 and United 135.
The Allegheny Country Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
