Accident with Gas leak – 20190327

Churchill Rescue was dispatched to an accident on Homer drive with a gas leak, March 27, 2019 at 11:30 pm.

122 Chief, 122 Assistant, 122 Rescue, and 122 Squad responded. A vehicle traveling up Homer Drive left the roadway and collided with a natural gas meter in the front yard. The gas meter was sheared below the shutoff valve and gas was venting from the house supply line. Firefighters temporarily plugged the gas line with towels and duct tape to stop the leak. The gas company responded quickly and shut off the gas line before replacing the meter.

Crews were on scene 45 minutes.
