Churchill Fire responded to a reported fire in the basement on Lewin Lane in Churchill at 2235 on Monday, May 6, 2019. 137 Chief was first on scene with an audible alarm and odor of something burning in the basement. 122 Chief arrived next taking command, followed by 122 Engine.
122 Engine crew was sent to the basement with a thermal imaging camera and tools to investigate along with 137 Chief. Crews found a water pipe had burst spraying water onto the hot water heater and furnace, possibly causing an electrical short. Water, power and gas was shut off to the appliances. No ventilation was needed.
Multiple other units from Forest Hills, Wilkins Township and Edgewood fire departments responded. Crews were on scene approximately 30 minutes.
