Churchill Rescue was dispatched to a reported rollover on the Parkway East between Penn Hills and Churchill exits at 0144 January 5, 2020.
122 Lieutenant was the first fire unit on scene reporting a single vehicle rollover resting on the passenger side, with the driver entraped.
122 Rescue and 302 Rescue arrived simultaneously , positioned to block all lanes of traffic. The vehicle was stabilized by 122 crew using JunkYard Dogs shoring while the 302 crew began extrication with their Genesis rescue tools. Once stabilization was in place, the 122 crew switched to extrication using Churchill’s truck mounted Hurst o-cutters. The roof of the BMW 330 convertible was removed and crews assisted Woodland Hills EMS crew with cutting the seatbelt and packaging the patient.
Crews then performed cleanup of a large amount of oil that had leaked from the damaged oil pan when the vehicle flipped down by the tow truck.
All Crews cleared the scene at 0255.
