Churchill Rescue was dispatched to a report of an overturned vehicle on the guardrail between Penn Hills and Churchill on the Parkway westbound, February 8, 2017 at 22:24.
122 Chief, 122 Rescue and 122 Squad responded. 227 Rescue and 302 Rescue were added to the call due to weather conditions. 227 Rescue was first on scene and found a single SUV on the guardrail leaking gas following a rollover located just past the Penn Hills off-ramp Westbound. 122 Chief took command on arrival. 302 Rescue was cancelled en-route due to no entrapment or significant hazards at the scene.
Crews assisted with traffic control at the scene while the driver was under care of Woodland Hills EMS. Crews remained on scene for 90 minutes until the vehicle was towed.
At the start of the incident, roads were lightly snow covered, but by the time crews were released, approximately 2 inches had accumulated. Churchill crew left the fire station at 00:30 following cleanup of vehicles and clearing snow at the station.
